Brahma Vihara Foundation
Brahma vihara refers to the four noble states of mind. By practicing Buddha’s teachings, cultivating wisdom and practicing it in our lives, we can give happiness and blessings to many people by speaking and acting with our hearts in a pure state of mind.
It is named the Brahma Vihara Foundation in the hope that not only individual practice but also beautiful energy will be transmitted to the world so that everyone can be happy, have a healthy body and mind, and enjoy comfort.
When Bhikkhuni Ayya Kosalla, who founded this organization, had the will to convey the Buddha’s teachings to the world in a more direct and practical way, she met Sayalay Karuna.
Through the introduction of Sayalay Karuna, Ayya Kosalla met Chris Idzerda, who became more interested in Dhamma and wanted to live it practically for the rest of his life, and the non-profit organization Brahma Vihara Meditation Center was born.
This meditation center located in Oakland, California, occupies a small space, but hopes to be reborn as a center with a larger meditation hall in the future.
Bhikkhuni Ayya Kosalla, a Dhamma teacher, is currently guiding meditation that can be practiced in daily life, focusing on personalized meditation guidance and personal counseling in small groups.
